Split core CTs

Split core CTs can be opened and placed around the conductor without having to disconnect the conductor or disrupt power. Split core CTs are more expensive than solid core CTs but the added convenience makes them the preferred choice for retrofit installations.

Inside Diameter Rated Amperage (A)
10 mm 15,  30,  50
16 mm 100
24 mm 100,  200,  300
36 mm 200,  300,  400,  600

Solid core CTs

Solid core CTs feature a permanently closed core. Installing a solid core CT requires disconnecting the conductor to pass it through the CT core. Solid core CTs are a cost effective solution when service disruption is not an issue.

Rogowski coil sensors

The most versatile of current sensor options, Rogowski coils are flexible enough to fit around irregularly-shaped conductors and minimize disruption to service during installation. Packet Power offers a variety of coil lengths.

Inside diameter Coil length Typical Amperage
68 mm 250 mm 100A to 1000A
147 mm 500 mm 400A to 3000A

CT wire harnesses

Flexible, preconfigured wire harnesses can cut installation time in half and fit into tight spaces inside panels.

The wire harnesses accommodate side-by-side, inline or DIN mount panels with 19-25 mm (3/4" to 1") center-to-center breakers. They are ideal for use when all circuits in a panel will be monitored.

Wire harnesses arrive already connected to the CT Interconnect Board. The wire harness leads are labeled and end in a quick disconnect that makes it easy to add CTs immediately or over time.

Wire lengths and lead labels vary by harness type. CTs are sold separately.

  • 16-CT, 21-CT and 24-CT harnesses

  • For inline panels, first CT Interconnect Board is placed at the top of the inline panel with remaining Boards evenly spaced beside the panel

  • For DIN-mount panels, CT Interconnect Board are placed at the side of the panel

16 CT MID 1000x1000
Mid
  • 16-CT harness

  • For DIN-mount panels

  • CT Interconnect Board placed at the DIN rail mid-point in the panel

  • All CT leads are the same length and are labeled sequentially

Common harness placements

Panel types vary widely by the number of breaker positions and how they are arranged. Packet Power flexible CT wire harnesses can accommodate any breaker configuration. Simply identify the number of CTs, the type of panel and where you will place the CT Interconnect Boards in relation to the circuits being measured.

Here are the most common harness placements by panel type and the corresponding CT harness type.

In cases where a wire harness doesn't work such as when circuits being measured are not evenly spaced, loose CT leads can be used.
