Packet Power had the privilege to sponsor two teams in the FiRST Robotics 10,000 Lakes regional tournament. FIRST Robotics is a program that challenges high school students to design and build robots capable of performing a complex set of activities. The robots then participate in tournaments each involving 50 or more high schools at different regional events around the US (and several more countries).
One of the Packet Power-sponsored teams, team 3630 from Breck High School, received the Chairman's award for running an overall outstanding robotics program. In addition to the recognition accompanying the award, the team gains the opportunity to compete in the national championship tournament. Our CTO's son was a key member of team 3630, and Paul was an active mentor for the team.
Team 3407 from Mounds View High School was also recognized, winning the Spirit Award. They proved throughout the tournament that "geeky", science-based activities can indeed be a great deal of fun. Our CEO's son served as captain of this team.
Congrats to all the teams that were able to participate in FIRST Robotics in 2012. It's a terrific program.
